Teacher Aid

Job Description

Objective:  Aid supervising teacher and assistant up to 10 ages 6 weeks to 5 years old

Reports to: Supervising Teacher

Salary: $12.50/hr; 8-10 hrs/wk in classroom between the hours of Mon & Wed; 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Dependable, stable, and capable of carrying out responsibilities/commitments with little or no supervision

Able to adjust to new scenarios/responsibilities with cheerfulness and a desire for the students’ welfare

A sincere desire to engage with all Shining Lights students and staff with love and compassion

Educational Qualifications

No credential level required

Major Responsibilities

Embody the mission, vision, and values of Shining Lights Learning Center at all times

Build relationships w/students and parents through confident, warm and caring communication

Ensure the health, safety, and sanitation of the classroom environment 

Help create a positive environment for students to develop social-emotional skills/healthy eating habits 

Aid teacher and teacher assistant in development of lesson plans based on student interests/developmental milestones, fostering a love of learning

Aid teacher and teacher assistant in implementing developmentally appropriate methods of observational assessment, making learning visible and communicating positive aspects of the student

Collaborate closely with teacher and teacher assistant on individual student progress

Support children in toileting, diapering, hand-washing, dressing, eating, etc. 

Communicate regularly with the teacher about any students requiring additional support

Maintain awareness and fulfill continuing education and licensure requirements in a timely manner 

Any other duties as assigned by the teacher or director

Serve as a humble example to students/staff in your spiritual journey in word and deed
